Shirley has a Master’s degree in Music from Hartt College of Music at the University of Hartford, Connecticut. She is the Past President of the Pinellas County Music Teacher’s Association and is a faculty member National Guild of Piano Teachers. Shirley is also a registered Suzuki Method teacher. She taught in schools for the Blind and Handicapped in CT and has been teaching music in Pinellas County public and private schools for 39 years. Shirley has been the Organist/Choir Director for various churches in CT and FL for many years, and is currently serving St. Dunstan’s Anglican Church in Largo, FL as Music Director and Youth Director.
A talented musician she plays piano, organ, violin, flute, clarinet, and guitar. She has worked with church youth groups using not only music with rhythm instruments and hand-chimes but also creatively with Christian musical presentations for youth sponsored church outings and events.
Shirley has also played in the Pinellas Park Orchestra and volunteers her time weekly playing music for children who are permanently handicapped at Palms of Largo.
Her many students have won awards and some have gone on to become professional players.
